FAWCO
and its Relationship to the INC
The
International Newcomer's Club is now beginning it's third year
as a FAWCO member. FAWCO, founded in 1931, is worldwide
non-partisan organization with over 75 Member Clubs representing
more than 15,000 individuals in 38 countries throughout the
world. A recognized non-governmental organization (NGO) since
1995, FAWCO was granted special consultative status to the Economic
and Social Council of the United Nations in 1997.
The
organization and INC have one basic factor in common in that
we both enjoy sharing the cultures of the thirty-eight nationalities
represented among our memberships. This is, in itself, a very
invigorating and rewarding experience!
In our first
year as members, INC raised funds which were donated to one
of United Nations' Millenium Goals espoused by FAWCO-- the quest
for the eradication of malaria. This was accomplished by painless
fundraising organized by the club's FAWCO Team for our members'
enjoyment.
FAWCO's philanthropic arm, the FAWCO Foundation
administers several grants--two of which are reserved strictly
only for FAWCO members.
ANY member
of a FAWCO Club is a member of FAWCO. Therefore, ALL members
of INC are members of FAWCO.If
you are interested in learning more about FAWCO, log onto the
organization's website at http://www.fawco.org.
The FAWCO
Team at INC announces activities in Nuevas
Amigas and in the weekly on-line e-News. Space is usually
very limited for any given event, so it is wise to sign-up as
soon as possible OR forward your contact information to the
FAWCO Team so you can be advised of different activities as
they develop and are open for sign-ups.
We look
forward to seeing you at our FAWCO FUNdraisers!
